What is Glamping?
The Eastern Townships have cornered the market on amazing glamping.
Glamping is glamorous camping. It’s for folks who may want an outdoor camping experience but with a tinge of luxury. You still get to sit around a campfire, watch the stars, and relax in nature, but without having to set up a campsite. Investing in camping gear or packing a big kit to get out in the woods is unnecessary. You stay in a charming tent or cabin perfectly curated for outdoor comfort.

Where are the Eastern Townships?
The Eastern Townships (known as Cantons-de-l’Est in French) are a picturesque region in southern Quebec, Canada, located east of Montreal and extending towards the U.S. border with Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. The area is known for its rolling hills, charming villages, scenic lakes, and outdoor activities.
Glamping Properties in the Eastern Townships
The Eastern Townships of Quebec offer a variety of unique glamping experiences that blend the comforts of modern amenities with the beauty of nature. Here are some notable glamping properties in the region I have stayed in.
Station Chene Rouge

Station Chene Rouge is a nature retreat located in the mountains of North Hatley, Quebec, approximately 15 minutes from Sherbrooke and 1.5 hours from Montreal. The resort offers a unique blend of glamping and wilderness lodging, featuring chic rustic mini-chalets and deluxe safari tents.
A stylish clubhouse and pavilion for lounging and cooking look out over the mountains. The spacious lawn has a saltwater pool, lounge chairs, and outdoor barbeques.
Station Chêne Rouge is pet-friendly, welcoming guests to bring their pets along for the experience.
The resort emphasizes sustainability and authenticity, celebrating the local community’s rich history, art, and culture.

Lao Cabines

Lao Cabines is a glamping and camping area north of Orford National Park near Racine. The modern cabins have a kitchen, composting toilet, a propane heater, and lights. In addition, the central welcoming area has showers, toilets, two hot tubs, and a sauna for campers’ and glampers’ use.
There are nine cabins nestled in the woods on hiking and biking trails. These cabins are equipped with large windows, offering panoramic views of the forest, lake, or mountains.
The interior of the cabin was perfectly designed. A comfortable Murphy bed folded into the wall during the day leaving a spacious living room with couch and swinging chair. The view of the forest through the floor-to-ceiling windows was gorgeous.

Finally, a lake on the property has kayaks and paddleboards to enjoy. After a day of exploration, guests can relax in the outdoor hot tubs or sauna available on-site. I enjoyed biking the trails and indulging in the hot afterward.
Auberge du Changement d’Ere

Air Drop
Auberge du Changement d’Ère is an eco-futuristic lodging located in Coaticook, Quebec, dedicated to ecological transition and offering unique architectural accommodations.
The glamping experience at Auberge du Changement d’Ere is in the Air Drops (Goutte d’Air), shimmering metal-encased tear drops seemingly suspended in the air. The interior has a clever table that folds down into a bed. The net loft has a ladder for kids to explore and sleep in the top of the Air Drop. A nearby restroom with showers and an outdoor kitchen for cooking is shared with other Air Droppers.
Situated just 700 meters from Parc de la Gorge and the Foresta Lumina attraction, it is short walk to the park in Coaticook.

Huttopia

Huttopia Sutton is a serene glamping destination nestled within a 160-acre forest at the foot of Mont Sutton in Quebec’s Eastern Townships. Located approximately 1.5 hours from both Montreal and Burlington, Vermont, it offers a convenient escape into nature.
While staying in a tent at Huttopia, you forget you are camping. The tent has a bathroom with a hot shower, a kitchen with running water, and a wood stove inside. There are also forty chalets, each accommodating up to six people.
The central reception area has a cafe, camp store, lounge area with games, and a swimming pool. Nearby hiking trails connect to the Mont Sutton trail system.
Huttopia Sutton is open seasonally from mid-May 15 to mid-October.

Au Diable Vert

Au Diable Vert in Glen Sutton is a mountaintop property with the feeling of the Swiss Alps. It is a dog-friendly four-season outdoor center with unique accommodations.
There are seven kinds of four-season ecolodges at Au Diable Vert including cute little pod cabins, cliff-side cabins, treehouses, rustic cabins, and modern mountain view suites. There are cozy two-person cabins and ones that house up to eight people for larger groups. Most of the cabins encircle the alpine meadow. They are situated for maximum views of the jaw-dropping scenery.
Check out the VéloVolant while you are there. It’s a canopy walk on a recumbent bicycle. You pedal through the hemlock and maple trees 100 feet above the ground.
At Au Diable Vert you transport your gear to the cabins and campsites via luggage carts. It’s uphill so pack light.

Logistics of Glamping in the Eastern Townships
Driving in the Eastern Townships
It is necessary to have a car to get to these remote glamping spots. You can rent a car in Montreal if you are flying in.
I use and recommend Discover Cars for your Quebec car rental. Discover Cars works with reliable local car rental companies to give you the best price and rental experience. I’ve used them often and have always been happy with the car rental.

I’ve never been glamping…mostly because the places I’ve traveled to that do have glamping options are just too expensive for me to book and feel good about it! I fully understand the charm of glamping though… I mean, look how cute that air drop is!
